On Father's Day at Valley, during the morning service, we were encouraged to share a remembrance of our father. While watching a short video clip on which the audio did not come through very well, I heard a girl say something about her father praying with her and "bing" the light went on for me.
"I remember"......when I was in Grade four a friend passed me a note just before lunch time. It said simply "If Jesus returned tonight, would you be ready?" What a timely question. I had been struggling for some time with the reality that if Jesus returned I was not ready to face Him, so this question really hit me hard. I started to cry and my teacher asked me what was wrong and if I would like to go home a little early for lunch. We lived on the same parcel of land that the school was on so I ran home and shared my problem with my dad and mom and they prayed with me to ask Jesus into my life. I don't recall the date, or any scripture they shared with me but I remember bouncing back to school feeling 'set free'. Sixty some years later I still look back on that day as the day I became a new person in Christ. Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift! (2 Corinthians 9:15 NIV)
