Dear Friends,
A number of you have asked me how it went with the 94 people I had with me in MX last week. To say it was a busy week is an understatement. And to say that God showed His hand is also an understatement.
Our Canadian team came in a big yellow school bus. The MX border people decided that it was a commercial vehicle (but in fact it's a private church bus) and would not let it come into the country. God had a plan for this group of 33 jr. sr. High students and their leaders. We were able to contact the company we rent from, who "just happened to have three vans available!!!" Two of them had been cancelled the day before.
We built seven houses. What a joy to know that five people received Christ and stepped into the Kingdom. Two of the families came to know the Lord in a personal way and will be starting to attend the church that Pastor Bernardo shepherds. The church has two vans that they are able to use to pick up and drop off people.
One young husband approached me to say that he remembered me from when he was six years old and I was involved in building his family a house. They don't forget!!
The church from Arkansas has taken Bernardo on as their mission outreach. They brought him a truck load of school supplies and a lovely little red pickup truck. We had a wonderful presentation ceremony...there just wasn't enough Kleenex!!
And lives change. Jesus touches lives and changes them. The ones who come down to serve are changed as are the ones that receive the blessing of a house. Short term missions helps to give people a taste of service and enables them to recognize that anyone can say, "YES" to God. It just takes a willingness to step out of the comfort zone.
A short while ago I heard the following: "God allows what He hates to enable what He loves." I have been chewing on this and trying to fit it into the lives we are living now. I invite your thoughts and comments.
May God bless you in a powerful way and may you celebrate the amazing miracle of His resurrection. He died for us and was resurrected for us.
Lots of love,
asher

The family home 2023
Nicolasa and family - January 2017
April 12, 2020 -- We were saddened to learn that Nicolasa passed away earlier this year; her family is still living in the house.
From Asher:
I first met Nicolass because she was being ministered to by a nurse (Angelina) at the Orphanage (Foundation For His Ministry). Angelina had been bringing food and hygiene supplies to Nicolass and her family for more than three years. We first stepped in to repair the roof of the shack she was living in and then we were asked if we would build for her, and that's when you stepped in...Thank You Jesus!
In her quiet and unassuming way Nicolasa provided a safe place for her family. Thank you again for serving her. You went above and beyond by first building and then paying off her land and helping her get birth certificates for her children.
